The sort of writing that makes me wonder why I even bother. Thank you but also please get worse.

when the comment is almost as good as the post. a compliment, not even backhanded.

“I have a dream that children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their pudding but by the content of their character in relation to said pudding.”

'You know you’re in deep ‘merica when the color of the pudding you fuck matters more than the fact that you’re fucking pudding.'

Magnificent writing.

I am compelled by a force as strong as a black hole I am circling, to say thank you kindly for sharing another truly funny, bitterly honest, yet sincerely beautiful piece. We are both 38, and although I grew up as an immigrant boy from eastern europe whose family moved to Canada, I still relate to many of your memories and cultural references. When I stumbled upon your "anti-cosmetic surgery essay", I was blown away. I couldn't remember the last time I read something that I both so profoundly agreed with and yet found myself laughing throughout, as if I was reading my favourite passage of a George Carlin book. I felt the same joy and enrichment when reading this post, too. In another life, I think we might've met somewhere between New York and Ottawa, and become life-long friends not unlike Beavis and Butt-head, and you know that I mean that as the ultimate compliment. Thank you so much for continuing to write, karine. Please know it is making a difference. Yours truly, a fan from Canada. ❤️‍🩹

Hey, just a thought. If you did end up interviewing at McD's you could have spun your "BK SUXXX" into the covert op that catapulted you across the street. Cheers!

Thank you for the deep guffaws this morning. You have such a way with words and mining the fluorescent truth of adolescence that is both extremely specific to your world and totally relatable. I don’t know what this substack is about either, but I immediately read it top to bottom whenever it hits my inbox.

I wanted to leave a comment with a note from the sentence in the story that made me laugh out loud, but there were too many and that would make the note too long. 😂

You remind me, as a woman, that women can be funny.

Jerry Lewis be damned. There are and have been tons of funny women. Plenty of 'mericans, natch, (Lucy, Carol Burnett, Tina Fey, etc.) but check out some UK comics--there are too many to mention, many that I am a fan of, but more than willing to make recs.

Wow what a trip this story was 🤣 And love that arrow pointing to the throat chakra. It's all about the details!

I don't even know what to say. You write perfect absurd realism. Its an inspiration to me as a writer (my substack is barren and the only things ive published on the internet were milquetoast articles in my alma matter's student paper and gay porn on ao3). You inspire me to be weirder and grosser and worse. There is nothing on this website that hits like this, nothing.

when i was 15 i got fired from my first job (a santa’s elf) for not being bubbly enough. what irked me about that was that the whole crew was a bunch of stone faced bitches, and now whenever i pass the exhibit i feel compelled to rebelliously flash my middle finger (i’m too chicken)
