You tell your stories so well that I recall my own similar but different stories and faded friendships and lost days. Well done, just really well done. Thank you, yet again.
I love this piece! it brings back to my own heathenous early 20's in Dublin in the late 90's..plenty of drinking, partying, all nighters, shabby breakfasts, one night stands with randomers. Friendships were the centre of everything! It was bliss. I loved this line: "my right hand clasping my half full-beer above the water’s surface like some white trash statue of liberty." What a hilariously shabby picture 🤣😍
A well observed moment in time, classic funny...maybe one day you'll revisit it as you are now, a different flavour a different tone. Another knower in time. Great writing thanks for sharing 🤓
I found your Substack because of that plastic surgery essay and have really been enjoying your personal stories. Most of them cracked me up but this one almost brought a nostalgic tear to my eye -- oh, to be young, dumb, and parachuting molly in 2012!
This is beautiful. My own twenties were Cryptkeeper ages ago but, yes, there was molly and beer and late-night burger deliveries. Your writing is a treasure. <3
the relatability of this story is unreal. every last detail. quintessential millennial experience. thank u for sharing
Not even a millennial experience, just a human one.
generally yes, but some of the specifics (eg, gay friend who uses Grindr) are very millennial
Enjoyed this (especially the bit about the plastic chair on Grindr!)

Gorgeous writing.
That does sound lovely! And just for the record, if we ever split molly, I'd totally let you have the gel-capsule, cause momma raised a gentleman
my “pills and powder” days are long over tantalus
This tore my heart out. Thank you
Lass: Lovely. Maybe time to leave this space and write your book?
I thoughttttt I was someone else / someone goodddddd
I’m not crying, you’re crying.

Was lovely to read and recall my own very similar summer crashes out with friends. Millennial experience to a T
